RESUME

The Italian-American baritone Alan Cemore began in theater as a child, acting in over a dozen plays and later trained with Boris Goldovsky at the renowned Oglebay Institute. After receiving his Bachelor of Music degree in Iowa, where he studied with Professor David Smalley, he went on to study at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt, Germany on a Rotary International Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship. Thereafter he began his studies with legendary Metropolitan Opera singer and Distinguished Professor Margaret Harshaw and received his Master of Music degree at the Indiana University School of Music, where he was the first ever recipient of the Cole Porter Memorial Fellowship. During this time he won prizes at numerous vocal competitions throughout the world, including the prestigious ARD International Music Competition in Munich, Germany.

Alan Cemore debuted with the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina, and later appeared in America with Cleveland Opera, Kentucky Opera, Central City Opera as well as covering at the Metropolitan Opera in New York. In Europe, he has been the leading baritone of the ensembles of the Hessen State Theater in Wiesbaden, the Bremen Theater, the Schleswig-Holstein State Theater, all in Germany,  the Basel Theater in Switzerland and the Graz Opera in Austria. He has also appeared with the Deutsche Oper am Rhein-Düsseldorf, the Nürnberg State Theater, the Baden State Theater in Karlsruhe, the Kassel State Theater, the Darmstadt State Theater, the Saarland State Theater in Saarbrücken, the theaters of Augsburg, Freiburg, Krefeld, Münster and others in Germany, the Bern and Luzern Theaters in Switzerland, the Tirol State Theater in Innsbruck, Austria and the Opera Royal de Wallonie in Belgium. Equally at home in Italian (Iago Otello, Tonio Pagliacci, Scarpia Tosca), French (Four Villains Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Le Père Louise) and German (Wozzeck Wozzeck, Pizarro Fidelio, Kurwenal Tristan) repertoire, he has performed over seventy opera roles in Europe, Australia and North America.

Alan Cemore has also sung leading roles with numerous International Festivals throughout the world including the Spoleto Festivals in both Italy and the USA, the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland, the Frankfurt Festival at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Wexford Festival in Ireland, the Torino Settembre Musica in Italy, the Perth Festival in Australia, and the International May Festival in Wiesbaden, Germany.

In addition to numerous television and radio appearances throughout Europe, Asia and North America, Alan Cemore has recorded the opera Die grossmütige Tomyris by Keiser for EMI Records, as well as operatic selections with the Munich Radio Orchestra for Columbia Records (SONY). Radio Hessen has  released a live recording of George Gershwin’s 100^th Birthday Celebration featuring Alan Cemore and the Hessen Radio Symphony Orchestra.

Alan Cemore has sung in important Concert Halls throughout the world, including the Carnegie Recital Hall in New York, the Herkulessaal in Munich, the Musikhalle Hamburg, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Royal Concert Hall Glasgow, Usher Hall in Edinburgh and the Danish Radio Koncertsal in Copenhagen. In addition to standard works such as Brahms' Deutsches Requiem and Mendelssohn's Elijah, his extensive concert repertoire ranges from Bach to Vaughan Williams.

Der italo-amerikanische Bariton Alan Cemore war bereits als Kind in mehr als ein Dutzend Schauspielstücken tätig und besuchte als Student das berühmte Ogelbay Institute unter der Leitung von Boris Goldovsky. Danach schloss er sein Gesangsstudium mit dem Bachelor of Music in Iowa ab und erhielt ein „Rotary International Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship”, das eine Fortsetzung seiner Studien an der Musikhochschule in Frankfurt ermöglichte. Anschließend studierte er bei der legendären Metropolitan Opernsängerin und „Distinguished Professor“ Margaret Harshaw an der Indiana University School of Music, wo er als erster Preisträger des Cole Porter Stipendiums sein Master of Music Diplom erhielt. Während dieser Zeit hat er weltweit viele Preise bei Gesangswettbewerben gewonnen, unter anderem bei dem bedeutenden Internationalen ARD-Musikwettbewerb in München.

Mit einem Opernrepertoire von über siebzig Partien, die er in Europa, Australien und Nord Ameika gesungen hat, ist er im italienischen (Iago Otello, Tonio Pagliacci, Scarpia Tosca), französischen (Vier Bösewichte Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Le Père Louise) und deutschen (Wozzeck Wozzeck, Pizarro Fidelio, Kurwenal Tristan) Fach gleichermaßen zu Hause.

Alan Cemore war Gast bei zahlreichen internationalen Festspielen, wie das Spoleto Festival in Italien und in den USA, das Edinburgh Festival in Schottland, die Frankfurt Feste an der Alten Oper Frankfurt, das Wexford Festival in Irland, dem Settembre Musica Torino in Italien, die Maifestspiele Wiesbaden und das Festival of Perth in Australien.

 Zu zahlreichen Radio- und Fernsehauftritten in Europa, Amerika und Asien kamen auch seine ersten Schallplattenaufnahmen für EMI (Die grossmütige Tomyris – Keiser) und Opernausschnitte mit dem Münchner Rundfunkorchester für Columbia Records (SONY). Anläßlich des 100. Geburtstages von George Gershwin produzierte der Hessische Rundfunk eine Live-Aufnahme einer Gershwin Gala mit dem Hessischen Rundfunkorchester und Alan Cemore.
